Sunset Guest House

This guest house is designed to extend the occupancy and site of the earlier Sunset House to the west. The two major rooms can be used as one with the upper, taller as living/dining room and the lower as bedroom or as two autonomous guest rooms each having its own bath while connected by the stair to the side. It can be entered on the upper level from the street and on the lower level from the path to the main house.

The big freestanding wall to the south forms a gap between it and the main body of the house to accommodate terraces and shade the southern exposures. It also gives a grander scale to the enormous expanse of the basin below. In contrast the one story wall on the street is intended to be entirely domestic in scale.
