Bridgeport Rescue Mission

A Proposal for Relocation to 1240 Central Avenue

The existing building consists of two distinct parts. The front section is a robust two story concrete frame with generous steel windows providing ample natural light throughout the interior especially on the second floor where there is an ample celerestory running down the middle. Each floor is approximately 9,800 square feet. The rear section consists of a series of one story buildings portions of which have high ceilings and includes two loading docks. This portion is approximately 12,000 square feet.

The intent is to relocate the entire BRM operation in one place, offices, meal service, the clothing store, the food pantry in this new facility. This would greatly improve both management and security for all of these operations. Most importantly the dignified entry and generous dining hall on the upper floor can serve all guests in one sitting of over 230 seats.

This reconfigured industrial building will make all of the Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s operations more efficient while also providing a generous dining hall.
