Villa Cambiamento in Malibu

The expansion of the existing single story house consists of three major elements which completely transform the site and the building. First is the second story addition which provides a main bedroom suite, a library and a game room around three sides of the roof terrace. Second is the guest and recreation area to the east including the screening room, the indoor handball court and two guest rooms all of which form three sides of a colonnaded court. Between this and the house is a similarly colonnaded arrival and motor court. Third is the expansion of the great pool terrace which is ordered by the addition of a colonnade/trellis around its perimeter to frame the views over the Pacific as well as up and down the coast.

The long axis running through the site and building serves as covered walk, as colonnade sometimes as interior corridor while linking all the parts together. It is centered at the motor court terminating on the east in the secrete garden court after passing through the guest court. To the west it extends through the house to the great terrace 200 feet above the ocean.
